CNA to PCT

🩺 Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program Overview

Triple Certification Track | Towson, Maryland

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program at New Destiny Health Career Center in Towson, MD is an advanced, post-CNA healthcare training program designed for Certified Nursing Assistants who want to expand their clinical skills and advance their careers.

This 8-week, 112-hour Patient Care Technician program prepares CNAs for three national certifications through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA):

  • Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
  • Certified EKG Technician (CET)

An active CNA license is required for enrollment, ensuring the program is taught at an advanced level and focused on real-world clinical application.

Comprehensive, Hands-On Healthcare Training

Students receive a balanced combination of classroom instruction, hands-on skills laboratory training, and competency validation. The curriculum emphasizes patient safety, infection control, professionalism, and employer-ready clinical skills.

Key training areas include:

  • Advanced patient care and monitoring
  • Venipuncture and specimen collection
  • 12-lead EKG acquisition and troubleshooting
  • Documentation, communication, and legal responsibilities

Rather than requiring an externship, the program uses a lab-based competency model, making it ideal for working CNAs while still meeting industry and certification expectations.

Triple Certification Advantage

Graduates are prepared to sit for three NHA certification exams, increasing employability and career flexibility. Many students pursue roles in:

  • Hospitals
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Dialysis centers
  • Physician offices
  • Long-term and acute care facilities

This CNA-to-PCT pathway allows students to gain multiple credentials in a single, accelerated program.
